The difference between TV card and video capture card
The TV card decodes the TV signal into an image signal and plays it on the computer. The video capture card collects some videos such as those shot by a DV camera and stores them on the computer through compression. There is an essential difference between the two.
Video capture cards generally do not have TV antenna interfaces and audio input interfaces. They cannot directly collect TV radio frequency signals with video capture cards, nor can they directly collect audio signals from analog videos. To collect audio, a sound card must be installed on the PC. The video capture card obtains digital audio through the sound card on the PC and synchronizes the audio with the collected digital video.
Although the TV card is slightly more complicated to install and operate, its hardware functions are more powerful than those of VGA TV boxes; its price is more affordable than that of USB TV boxes. It can not only watch TV with a computer, but also make full use of the powerful functions of the computer to process TV signals, such as TV program recording, video acquisition and compression, and listening to the radio. Therefore, TV cards are still loved by many users.
