The difference between video decoder and video capture card
Video capture card is hardware. To put it simply, it is used to capture video files from DV or camera to hard disk or non-editing software for editing, and can also be recorded back. According to the video signal source, video capture card can be divided into digital capture card (using digital interface) and analog capture card. According to the installation link method, it can be divided into external capture card (box) and built-in board card.
Video decoder can be software or hardware, but most computers are installed with software decoder. Video decoder is a program (video player) or device that performs restore decoding operation on encoded digital video. For example, if the system is installed with real encoder, it can convert other format files into rm or rmvb format. If real decoder is installed, it can play rm or rmvb format files. Hardware decoder can be simply understood as a decoding chip. It can be expanded through upgrading, just like the current graphics cards are nominally H.264 hard decoding. The decoding and encoding work is completed by hardware without CPU intervention.
So the main difference between the two is that one is to capture video files to the computer. The other is to convert or decode the already captured file video. They are fundamentally completely different devices.
What are the requirements for computer configuration of video capture card?
