What is the difference between USB3.0 and USB2.0
USB3.0 is an upgrade of USB2.0. USB3.0 is divided into USB3.0, USB3.1 and USB3.2 according to USB specifications.
1. Comparison of the number of cables:
USB2.0 has only four wires, namely VBUS, D+, D- and GND.
The USB3.0 cable has 9 wires. In addition to the four wires of USB2.0, it also includes five wires: StdA_SSRX−, StdA_SSRX+, StdA_SSTX−, StdA_SSTX+ and GND_DRAIN.
2. Appearance comparison:
For the USB Type B interface, USB2.0 has only 4 wires and is black inside, while USB3.0 is marked in blue.
As shown in the figure below, USB3.0 has 9 wires inside, while USB2.0 is black and has only 4 wires.

3. Main controller comparison:
On the host side, a USB3.0 Hub is used, which also uses a similar interface. If it is a 2.0 device, it uses EHCI (USB2.0 controller), otherwise it uses XHCI (USB3.0 controller).
In fact, if it is confirmed that both the host and the device support USB3.0, then the USB2.0 cable is redundant.
4. Performance comparison of protocol rate power supplies:
USB2.0 has a high-speed transmission rate of 480Mbit/s and is backward compatible with low-speed 1.5Mbit/s and full-speed 12Mit/s. The external power supply voltage is 5V and the maximum current is 500mA.
USB3.0 provides a higher ultra-high-speed transmission speed of 5.0Gbit/s, and is backward compatible with low-speed 1.5Mbits/s, full-speed 12Mbit/s and high-speed 480Mbit/s transmission rates. The external power supply voltage is 5V and the maximum current is 900mA.
USB3.0 also adds new power management functions, supporting standby, sleep and temporary modes, which saves more power.
USB3.0 is full-duplex communication, while USB2.0 is half-duplex communication.
USB2.0 uses NRZI encoding, while USB3.0 uses 8B/10B encoding.
