Thunderbolt, as an advanced version of USB-C connection, provides a more powerful I/O solution for most laptops. While a standard 10Gbps USB-C connection is enough to power a USB-C hub or dongle to expand your laptop's ports, Thunderbolt 3/4's 40Gbps high-speed connection can support connecting multiple high-speed monitors via a Thunderbolt dock, significantly improving your work efficiency.
Furthermore, Thunderbolt 5 doubles the data transfer rate to 80Gbps and can even achieve one-way connection speeds of up to 120Gbps under certain circumstances, allowing users to easily connect one or more high-speed displays on their laptops. Compared with the two 60Hz 4K displays supported by Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5 can support three 144Hz 4K displays, bringing an unprecedented visual experience to professional users.
However, it is worth noting that the adoption of Thunderbolt technology not only requires support from the device itself, but also requires a laptop or desktop computer to have corresponding compatibility. Intel has announced that Thunderbolt 5 will appear in its 2024 product line, but its form as a standalone chip means that laptop manufacturers will have to invest additional costs to integrate the technology, and ultimately these costs may be passed on to consumers. In addition, Thunderbolt 5 operation may slightly increase the laptop's power consumption.
Against this background, Purplelec took the lead in launching the first Thunderbolt 5 docking station, the TB5 Dock. The base is equipped with two upstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, as well as three 10Gbps USB-A ports and a 20V DC interface, fully meeting the diverse connection needs of users. On the back design, it integrates an HDMI port supporting 8K60hz resolution, an Ethernet interface and another Thunderbolt 5 port, creating a comprehensive high-speed connection solution for users.

What’s even more surprising is that this base also has a built-in small folding port, specially designed for M.2 SSD cards, which not only improves storage flexibility, but is also cleverly integrated into the design of the Thunderbolt base, demonstrating Purplelec’s capabilities in The pursuit of excellence in technological innovation and user experience.
