For players who pursue the ultimate gaming experience, recording original game content at 144fps is often a technical challenge. Since most encoders or capture cards on the market cannot perfectly handle such high frame rate signal sources, this article aims to introduce an effective solution to help players smoothly capture and record 1080p 144fps game videos.
  Required equipment list:
  1. High-performance display device: A monitor that supports 144Hz refresh rate, paired with a game console or gaming computer, to ensure that the game can run smoothly at 144fps.
  2. Recording host: A computer (desktop or laptop) with recording software installed to perform recording tasks.
  3. Capture device: Choose a PCIe capture card or USB capture device. Note that due to the bandwidth limitation of USB 3.0, the 144fps recording effect may not be fully achieved when using USB devices, but it is suitable for recording and streaming at lower frame rates.
  4. Connection cable: If you choose a USB capture device, you need a USB 3.0 cable; at the same time, no matter which capture method you use, you need two HDMI cables to connect the game source and the capture device.
  Operation steps:
Step 1: Device connection and setup
Laptop users: USB Capture devices are usually plug-and-play, no additional driver installation is required. Just make sure the recording software is installed and ready.

Desktop users: Insert the PCIe capture card into the PCIe x4 (or higher) slot of the host, and download and install the corresponding driver from the "Support" page.

  Step 2: Game system configuration
On the game system (gaming computer or game console), enter the graphics card control panel (gaming computer) or the video settings panel (game console), adjust the resolution to 1920x1080p, and set the output refresh rate to 144Hz to ensure that the game outputs the video signal at 144fps.

Step 3: Start the recording software
Open the installed recording software and select the Purplelec (or other corresponding brand) capture device as the input source. Once the configuration is completed, you can start recording game videos.
  Notes:
Limitations of live streaming platforms: It should be noted that most live streaming platforms (such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Live) have an upper limit on the frame rate of live content, usually 60fps. Even if a 144fps video is recorded, after uploading it to these platforms, the audience experience is still limited by the refresh rate of their display device.
Purplelec acquisition solution: Using advanced FPGA processing technology, Purplelec's acquisition equipment can effectively reduce the burden on the host CPU while providing high-quality video acquisition, achieving a stable and economical recording experience. In addition, the solution also supports flexible adjustment of video resolution and frame rate to meet different output requirements.
