How to use VGA capture card to capture computer screen signal

A VGA capture card is a hardware device used to convert VGA (Video Graphics Array) signals into digital signals for display, recording or transmission on a computer, monitor, video editing software or streaming platform. This device is particularly suitable for scenarios where the content of traditional VGA signal sources (such as old computers, projectors, game consoles, etc.) needs to be digitized and integrated into modern digital systems.
Here are the basic steps to capture computer screen signals using a VGA capture card:
  1. Prepare the equipment
VGA capture card: Make sure you have a compatible VGA capture card that supports your operating system (such as Windows, MacOS, etc.).
VGA cable: Used to connect your computer and VGA capture card.
Power supply (if necessary): Some VGA capture cards may require external power supply.
Computer: Used to receive and display the captured signal.
  2. Connect the equipment
Connect the input end of the VGA capture card to the VGA output interface of your computer (or any VGA signal source) through a VGA cable.
Connect the output of the VGA capture card (usually HDMI, USB, or other digital interface) to your receiving device (such as another computer, monitor, or video recording device).
If the VGA capture card requires external power, connect it to an electrical outlet.
  3. Install drivers and software
Most VGA capture cards require the installation of corresponding drivers to work properly on your computer. Follow the instructions that came with the capture card or the manufacturer's website to download and install the drivers.
Install any necessary video capture or streaming software that will be used to receive, process, and display the signal from the VGA capture card.
  4. Configure the software
Open your video capture or streaming software and configure it to recognize and use the VGA capture card as an input source.
Adjust parameters such as resolution, frame rate, color settings, etc. as needed.
  5. Start capturing
Once all settings are configured, you can start capturing the computer screen signal.
In the video capture software, you will be able to see the image transmitted from the VGA signal source in real time, and can choose to record it as a video file or broadcast it live.
  Notes
Make sure your VGA capture card is compatible with your computer or signal source.
Different VGA capture cards may have different performance and features, so carefully compare the specifications and features of different products before purchasing.
Capturing and transmitting high-quality video signals may require high bandwidth and processor performance, so make sure your receiving device is powerful enough to handle these tasks.
