Application of Soft Compression Capture Card
Soft compression video capture card uses software to compress and encode the collected video signal. This solution is mostly used in current industry applications. It is not only low-cost, but also very simple and fast to use, and has better compatibility. Soft compression capture cards can be directly compatible with video application software developed by DirectShow standard, which greatly facilitates users' direct use.
1. In the market, it is often heard that some equipment dealers call a certain DVR a semi-soft and semi-hard DVR. In fact, there is no semi-soft and semi-hard compression DVR in DVR. The concept was created at the end of 2004, when Wave-Particle took the lead in launching the first SAA 7130 chip DVR card in China. Because its quality and performance surpassed many hard compression DVRs, many equipment dealers wanted to sell it at a good price, so they lied that it was a hard compression DVR, and positioned the price close to hard compression, which was more expensive than the old generation of soft compression DVRs, in order to obtain better profits. After that, more and more dealers called the SAA7130 chip DVR a semi-soft and semi-hard compression DVR.
2. The circuit board of soft compression DVR is simple, and there is no compression chip and temporary storage chip on the board. The cost is low, which is generally about 1/3 of that of hard compression, so the price is its biggest advantage. In addition, from the principle, we can see that the soft compression DVR is compressed by the CPU, so its compression quality is better and the video clarity is high. When the CPU resources are sufficient, the soft compression DVR is no less than the hard compression DVR in terms of video recording, network and other functions.
3. The development and popularity of computer accessories such as higher-performance CPUs are one step ahead, which is more suitable for the application of soft compression DVR. In addition, in foreign markets, mainly civilian markets, there is generally no official intervention and internal operations, so it is necessary to rely on cost-effectiveness to attract customers, rather than rebates, relationships, mandatory regulations, etc., so soft compression is very popular. In addition, most soft compression DVRs are given software when buying hardware. Some soft compression DVRs are very user-friendly, while many hard compression DVRs are provided by two companies for software and hardware, which is very cumbersome to use. In some Western countries, labor costs are high, and a day's salary may be much higher than the price of a DVR card, so DVRs that are difficult to operate will not be popular.
Software compression capture cards have now become the mainstream in the video capture card industry. Compared with traditional hardware compression capture cards, they have more advantages and characteristics, and more importantly, their costs are lower.
