ASMEDIA releases ASM2464 actual measurement

  At Computex Taipei, many manufacturers demonstrated new USB4 solutions, including main controllers, Hub controllers, expansion cards, etc., marking the imminent arrival of a real wave of popularity.
  ASMEDIA has long designed the ASM4242 USB4 master control and the ASM2464 USB4-PCIe 4.0 bridge controller. The official USB-IF specification for third-party controllers has not been ready, and the relevant design documents are even incomplete. It has been overly dependent on Intel's Thunderbolt. 3 specifications.
  At Computex Taipei, ASMEDIA demonstrated the operation of ASM2464 on Apple M2 and Intel 13th generation Core platforms. There were no obvious compatibility or performance issues. The highest measured sequential read and write speeds could reach about 3.7GB/s.
  According to ASMEDIA, there is no problem with the 12th generation Core, and AMD has nothing to say. After all, AMD has long supported USB4 according to the USB-IF specification.
  In addition, ASMEDIA also has the new ASM3074 USB 3.2 Gen2x2 20Gbps Hub, which supports three 5Gbps or 10Gbps USB 3.2 interfaces.

USB4/Thunderbolt technology enables PCIe and USB protocols to be encapsulated into the USB4/Thunderbolt fabric and tunneled across USB4/Thunderbolt domains. ASM2464PDX can be implemented with various types of general PCIe devices in addition to NVMe SSD.
  The ASM2464PDX USB connection is able to provide data rate at a speed of USB4/Thunderbolt 20Gbps x2 and is compatible with existing legacy USB 3.2 interfaces, as well as Thunderbolt 3. In addition, the downstream port link of ASM2464PDX is also upgraded to PCIe Gen4 x4. The downstream PCIe lanes are configurable to support up to four PCIe devices.
  ASM2464PDX integrates USB4/Thunderbolt Gen3 x2, and PCI Express Gen4 with VDD, VCCL, VCCH voltage power source. A USB Type-C CC logic circuit and BMC PHY are integrated for supporting cable orientation, flipping, and PD Sink mode with the capability to communicate via PD protocols including USB4/TBT3 Discovery and Entry with host. A discrete PD controller can be supported through I2C to achieve advanced USB PD functions. ASM2464PDX is driven by local 25MHz crystal in a compact RoHS Green compact package with the support of multiple GPIO pins for customization.

  ASM2464PD, is a new generation of USB4 ®/Thunderbolt to PCIe/NVMe Accessory controller based on ASMedia in-house designed PHYs. USB4/Thunderbolt technology enables PCIe and USB protocols to be encapsulated into the USB4/Thunderbolt fabric and tunneled across USB4/Thunderbolt domains. ASM2464PD can be implemented in various types of storage devices such as portable SSD, SSD enclosure, and any other PCIe based storage products that can be used to expand storage capacity with high-speed data transfers.
  The ASM2464PD USB connection is able to provide data rate at a speed of USB4/Thunderbolt 20Gbps x2 and is compatible with existing legacy USB 3.2 interfaces, as well as Thunderbolt 3. In addition, the downstream port link of ASM2464PD is also upgraded to PCIe Gen4 x4 to support various NVM Express based M.2, CFexpress, and U.2 form factors.
  ASM2464PD integrates USB4/Thunderbolt Gen3 x2, and PCI Express Gen4 with VDD, VCCL, VCCH voltage power source.
