Purplelec has unveiled its latest Thunderbolt 5 Hub, one of the first accessories to support Intel's latest Thunderbolt standard, designed for Thunderbolt 5 compatibility with Apple's new Mac mini and MacBook Pro models powered by the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.
This powerful Thunderbolt 5 Hub is able to expand a single Thunderbolt port into three Thunderbolt 5 ports and a USB-A port, providing up to 80Gb/s bidirectional data transfer speeds, which is twice as fast as Thunderbolt 4. It is also able to support up to 120Gb/s display connection bandwidth, allowing users to connect up to three 8K displays at 60Hz, and features display stream compression, which is perfect for users with demanding visual workflows.
For charging, the Hub is able to deliver up to 140W of power delivery, which is enough to meet the charging needs of the 16-inch MacBook Pro. Its aluminum casing is passively cooled to ensure silent operation.
Purplelec also paid great attention to backward compatibility with Thunderbolt 3/4 and USB-C devices, allowing users to easily connect new and old peripherals. In addition, the Hub is also able to create three independent device daisy chains that can operate independently, further enhancing its practicality.
With a compact and perfect design, the Thunderbolt 5 Hub opens up new workflow possibilities and performance experiences for users. It not only breaks the connection limitations of insufficient host Thunderbolt 5 ports, but also redefines productivity with up to 80Gb/s bidirectional data speeds (2x faster than Thunderbolt 4 and USB4) and higher display bandwidth requirements of up to 120Gb/s. Users can connect portable SSDs with over 6000MB/s, up to three 8K displays (@60Hz with DSC), current USB-C connector compatible devices, and past USB-A desktop accessories, while keeping modern laptops powered and charged at 140 watts for mobile use.
