How to improve SSD transfer speed?
Solid state drives (SSDS) not only outperform traditional hard disk drives (HDDS) in terms of larger capacity and smaller size, but the most important reason is unmatched speed.
SSDS are much faster than HDDS because SSD data is stored on interconnected flash memory chips, while HDDS store data magnetically. In other words, SSDS surpass HDDS because they use circuitry and have no physical moving parts, which results in shorter wait times when booting up and less latency when opening applications or performing a large number of computing tasks.
When you buy a new SSD and expect to experience the advertised transfer speed, it is irritating to find that the speed is already greatly limited. In fact, it is the factory setting that slows down the SSD to extend its useful life. Here are two alternative solutions to increase speed by performing the following steps (using Windows 10 as an example) :
Option one:
Click "This Computer" on your desktop.
Locate and right click on your SSD.
Select Properties.
Go to the Hardware TAB.
Find your SSD and select "Properties" again.
Under the "Policies" TAB, click "Volumes."
Click Fill.
Under Policies, select Better Performance.
Option two:
Right-click "This Computer" on your desktop.
Select Manage.
The Disk Management page is displayed.
Locate and right click on your SSD.
Select Properties.
Go to the Hardware TAB.
Find your SSD and select "Properties" again.
Under the Policies TAB, select Better Performance.
