Why is there no sound when the HDMI interface is output?

Computers with HDMI high-definition interfaces also output sound when outputting videos. What should I do if only video can be output without sound?
The lack of sound from the HDMI interface may be caused by a variety of reasons. Here are some common reasons and troubleshooting steps:
  1. TV or monitor volume settings:
  • Make sure that the volume of the TV or monitor is not muted or turned down to the lowest setting. Use the remote control to adjust the volume.
  2. HDMI cable connection problem:
  • Check whether the HDMI cable is correctly inserted into the HDMI ports of the computer and TV to ensure that the connection is firm and not loose.
  • Try to replace another HDMI cable to rule out problems with the cable itself.
  3. Audio output settings:
  • In the computer's sound settings, make sure that the HDMI device is set as the default audio output device.
  • You can right-click the volume icon in the taskbar, select "Open Sound Settings", and then select the HDMI device as the default device under the "Playback" tab.
  4. Graphics driver and audio driver:
  • Make sure the graphics driver and audio driver are up to date. Sometimes outdated or incompatible drivers can cause audio output problems.
  • You can update the driver through the device manager, or visit the graphics card manufacturer's official website to download the latest driver.
  5. HDMI audio function is not enabled:
  • If you are using a DVI to HDMI adapter, you need to use an additional audio cable to transmit audio because the DVI interface does not support audio transmission.
  • For some devices, you may need to manually enable the HDMI audio function in the BIOS settings.
  6. Hardware failure:
  • Check whether the HDMI interface of the computer or TV is damaged.
  • Try to test the HDMI cable and interface on another device to see if the sound can be output normally.
  7. Conflicting audio devices:
  • If there are multiple audio output devices on the computer, conflicts may occur, resulting in failure of HDMI audio output. Try disabling other audio devices, such as the motherboard sound card.
  8. Audio format is not supported:
  • Some HDMI interfaces may not support specific audio formats, such as Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD Master Audio, which may require format conversion on the playback device.
  9. System settings:
  • Check the audio output settings of the operating system to ensure that they are not incorrectly set to mute or the volume is too low.
  10. Software or application settings:
  • Some media playback software may require manual selection of the audio output device, ensure that it is set to HDMI.
If the above steps do not solve the problem, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the device for technical support, or consider sending it for repair to check if there is a problem with the hardware.
